A Day trip to Genting Highlands and Genting Strawberry Farm

on the 11th December 2010,  i  managed to drag my husband for an outing to Genting Highlands.. actually i have been planning this with my lil brother since we are going back to Sabah the next day..

So we start our journey at 10am, having a breakfast at mamak’s restaurant and continue our journey at 11am. There’s a bit traffic along the way and we managed to arrive at the cable car station around 12pm..

after parking our car on the highest floor of the parking space, we then continue to the ticket counter.. the ticket for adult is RM5. As we proceed to the disembarking hall.. im so shocked with the number of peoples queuing to board the cable car.. Luckily we are with our lil princess that we are given the special attention to wait at the spacious waiting area and allowed to board at a specific time.. Thanks to the management.

Even it is just a day trip… which i hope we will have the time to stay.. we did enjoy our time there.. as we can walk around the place and having a joyful photo machine session..

For those who are interested to stay in.. i would suggest the cheapest accomodation – The First World hotel (3 star) with a complimentary breakfast with a reasonable price.. but there are also several hotel nearby such as  Maxims, Genting Hotel, Theme Park hotel, Highlands hotel, Resort Hotel which offers better quality of rooms.

After the tiresome journey, we conclude our day trip with a quick visit at the Genting strawberry farm 5 minutes drive from the Cable car station.

dont worry, the sign board will help you find the place. Its a new attraction i guess.. since the place is quite new..

There are no entrance fee.. and you can self-pick the strawberries!!! however, you have to pay for the strawberries you have pick.. come on lar, nothing is free right… it is quite a big place, with the organic farm, mushroom farm, flower farm and cafes around..  so take your time to explore each place.. its worth it.

This are the pictures we’ve taken.

MGTT

HI..

I’m coming back with a new post.. Today I want to share about MGTT..

MGTT stands for Meal Glucose Tolerance Test… It is a medical test in which glucose is given and blood samples taken afterward to determine how quickly it is cleared from the blood. The test is usually used to test for diabetes, insulin resistance, and sometimes reactive hypoglycemia or rarer disorders of carbohydrate metabolism

I first encounter this test when I’m in my 16 week of pregnancy and second on my 27 week. When I have gained 4kg in one month and they are afraid that I might have diabetes as my father.

What to expect?

  1. You are requested to fast – not to eat and drink from 10pm the night before the test
  2. You register your self in the morning.. Better as early as you can and wait for your number to be called.
  3. Then, the nurse will insert a needle in your veins to take the blood sample to check the level of blood sugar after fasting the night before.
  4. After that, you need to drink a glass of water sugar – glucose. This glucose drink will raise your blood sugar level.
  5. After the sugary drinking.. You are requested to wait for two hours and you are not allowed to consume anything not even water.. (That’s the reason why you should come early for the test).
  6. After the two hours of bored waiting.. The nurse will call you again and she will take your blood sample for the second time. As for the normal reading, it is expected that your blood sugar level should return to normal within the two hours.
  7. Remember to bring something to drink or eat afterwards, as you will feel really nauseated and uncomfortable.

However, it is such a worse experience to go through the test. I successfully went through the first one but not the second.

When the nurse ‘announced’ that I need to go for the second test..  I’m sick. I couldn’t think that I could ever put that drink into my mouth again… the taste? Disaster!!! LOL

As for that said morning… I manage to finish the drink with lots of efforts..  (Not really finish though. As I left a bit in the glass and hide it among the glasses as I saw someone doing it too).

Not long after that I felt nauseated and want to vomit.. With lots of difficulties I manage to endure the urge to vomit and successfully took the second blood test afterwards without spilling any of the remaining glucose in my stomach.

However, sadly to said…

I did vomit on my way back driving… I couldn’t find any place to stop.. And I couldn’t stop the urge to vomit.. that I throw up wetting my clothes and the car seat.. luckily its leather…

Till now.. I still remembered the taste of glucose and despise the thoughts of having it again… and I will do anything to avoid it…

So for those of you who wants to avoid taking the second test of MGTT.. watch your weight!!  You are supposed to gain 0.5kg per week only…

Best of luck gals!!!

Hyperemesis Gravidarum

Its been a while since i left my blog untouched.. it begins when the doctor confirmed that i am pregnant.. just a week from receiving the news.. i start experiencing this so called illness..

what is Hyperemesis Gravidarum? according to the American Pregnancy Association… Hyperemesis gravidarum is a condition characterized by severe nausea, vomiting, weight loss, and electrolyte disturbance.

It tooks me until my fourth months pregnancy, 16- 17 weeks to recover from it.

in that 4 months, i could not consume any food, any drinks, and i kept vomiting day and night. it’s really bring me down emotionally and physically.

I had been admitted to the hospital thrice, and go through the pain of inserting IV (Intravenous fluids )  to restore hydration, electrolytes, vitamins, and nutrients.

I could not tolerate smells.. even my husband’s..

I have to take lots of sick leave and unpaid leave, cause i really unfit for work.

However, thanks to my husband for his patient and love.. he is the one who do all the house chores. He cooks, he washed, he cleaned.. he even be the one who took out my vomits..  without him i could not imagine how my life would be.. thank you dear husband…

The lesson that i learned from these are.. don’t worry.. it might dampen your spirit and you will feel that you can’t move on… but, be strong.. do whatever it takes to make you comfortable.. if you needed a break.. take it.. and enjoy it…

Numero 9 Movie

Actually, im not really in the mood of writing.. especially with the running nose..

However,  i was surfing the internet when i came across the Numero 9 .. it was the movie that i watched last Sunday.. and its in HD too..  we just picked it up from the rack hoping that it would be a great movie to watch..

91

the outcomes ? it has  good graphics, smooth and mesmerizing.

The story line?  hmm.. i am wondering at first until the end of the story.. left you unsatisfied.. because lots of questions pops up and u cant get the answer.. is it worth to watch? .. Yes.. indeed.. you wont see any cartoon characters like that before, kind of cute and its made of sack.. interesting.

Numero 9 was  directed by Shane Acker and produced by Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov. The film was an expand on a short film of the same name and  based on Acker’s Academy Award-nominated 2005. Academy award huh?

the synopsis?

this story takes place in a world parallel to our own, in which the very legacy of humanity is threatened by a machine invented by a scientist. The same scientist gives his soul to the 9 fully mobile rag dolls living a post-apocalyptic existence.

9 is the name of the main character (star Elijah Wood). Why 9? because he is the ninth and the last doll made by the scientist, to ensure there’s still living things on earth after the destruction bythe machine.. Then there are 1- the so called leader who insist them to hide from danger, 2 – an aged and brave  inventor, 3 and 4 – The twins who speaks through their eyes and makes library as their home, 5 – a stalwart mechanics who was under the chief influence to hide then manage to broke out and saved 2, 6 – a visionary who always draw and have stripped prison like clothes, 7 – a brave warrior ( and its a woman too) choose to fight rather than hiding, and 8 – the chief’s left hand.. the big guy who likes to play with magnets over his head.. why? dunno.

a Thai experience

After a few days being a bored holiday housewife, surfing, facebooking and watching Tv, i managed to drag my husband to a Thai restaurant in Cheras for a dinner.. we are supposed to eat somewhere else, but then he pity me and decided to let me choose..  thank you dear..

This is the logo of the restaurant Restoran Q Thai's Logo

So, we entered the spacious restaurant compound and parks our car. The waiter runs toward us with an umbrella in his hand since it was raining. Good service though..

It is an open area restaurant and divided into two section. Ala – Carte and Eat as Much As u Wish Steamboat Buffet. Since we only have fifty bucks in the wallet (told you, we were supposed to eat somewhere else), we head to Ala-Carte section hoping that we wont be over budget since we dont have any idea on the Buffet price.

The interior is quite comfy, the waiter are friendly.. they also can comprehend English well. The waiter handed us the menu and we looked through it while doing mind calculation.

There are many choices to choose for:- Soup, chicken, beef, fish, seafood, dessert etc.. there is also Sotong Kangkung, Penang Rojak buah, Sizzling Dish and Kerepek.. The price ranges from Rm5-Rm30 based on the servings.

These are our orders for the dinner which include 2 rice and hot Thai Tea :

sweet and sour chicken

Sweet and sour Chicken

As tasty and yummy as it looks, served with fresh tomatoes, cucumber, slices of pineapples and special sweet and sour sauce. A small serving of RM15

tom yam seafood

tom yam seafood

a true taste of thai tom yam, however it is quite a small bowl for a serving of RM6. hope to have a bigger bowl. heheh

kerabu Mango

Kerabu Mango

a quite big serving, and its rm10. However not really met out expectation as we taste a better version than this.. should be more intense in its spicyness, sweetness, sourness.. lack of something

Overall, it is quite a satisfying dining experience. As for info, i managed to peek at the Eat As much As u can Steamboat buffet Section and it costs RM22++ per adult and RM12++ per child to dine there..

Hopefuly my husband will not mind to bring me ther again for the steamboat.. can a LaoKung?

P/s It opens 5pm -1am
